When Alycia first saw Peter, it wasn’t quite love at first sight. However, when she learned that Peter was going through a rough patch in his life, she wanted to show him the compassion she felt and during a chance meeting, asked him how he was doing.

A remarkable friendship ensued, which quickly grew into love. When Peter arranged a meeting with her father, Alycia guessed something was in the air but says that nothing could have prepared her for Peter’s romantic proposal when it came some days later.

On the wedding day, Alycia and her bridesmaids were having so much fun during the pre-wedding photos that they didn’t hear the chauffeur ring the doorbell. The situation was remedied just in time to prevent the puzzled chauffeur moving to another house.

When she arrived at the ceremony venue, Alycia found it hard to hold back her tears as her father walked her towards her soon-to-be-husband. After the ceremony and a fun-filled photo shoot, the couple relaxed and enjoyed a memorable reception. To end the night, Alycia and her father performed a self-choreographed dad-and-daughter dance that had all their guests cheering.

Nine years ago, Peter, then 19, and 16-year-old Brooke met through mutual friends. In the truest of love stories, they have been together ever since.

For her 17th birthday, Peter bought Brooke a tiny diamond ring, assuring her that one day he would buy her a bigger diamond when they got engaged. And seven years later he did… a beautiful princess cut diamond ring that he gave her during an unexpected proposal on a gondola in Venice when they were travelling through Europe.

Wanting to ensure that the proposal was a complete surprise, Peter had hidden the ring in the couple’s video camera bag. Brooke remembers that it was very romantic despite the gondolier yelling at Peter for rocking the boat when he got down on one knee!

After months of planning, and despite an exhausting few days due to some last minute hitches, Brooke was ecstatic when her wedding day finally arrived.

Brooke’s cousin (and best friend) was her chief bridesmaid, another close friend and Peter’s sister were bridesmaids, and Peter’s niece made a pretty junior bridesmaid. Reading a beautiful letter from Peter made for a wonderful start to Brooke’s day.

Brooke walked down the aisle with her dad, who was so concerned that he might accidentally stand on her dress that he was more nervous than the bride! As soon as Brooke and Peter saw one another, they couldn’t stop smiling in sheer delight. The couple agree that their wedding day was perfect, and everything that they had imagined it would be.

Their bridal party and families ensured that everything ran smoothly, and Brooke and Pete felt so lucky that they got to share the day with all the people that mean so much to them.

The new mum will be sure to spice things up in the front row with a host of events to attend including PFF’s exclusive launch party featuring one of Western Australia’s most coveted designers, Aurelio Costarella on 21st September.

Director, Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said Perth Fashion Festival is thrilled that Mel B will be attending this year’s Festival and is looking forward to introducing her to the amazing creative talents on offer in WA. “Mel has a very unique sense of style and she’s not afraid to express herself creatively. With so many WA designers taking to the runway at this year’s Festival we’re confident she’ll be inspired by the diversity of WA’s design talent,” Ms Harvey-Hanrahan said.
