Find Your Perfect Wedding in the Swan Valley

Come and experience one of the most idyllic wedding settings Western Australia has to offer on Sunday, July 8, at the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day, with various venues throughout the region throwing open their doors for the event.

The Swan Valley has something to suit a huge range of wedding styles; you can make a grand entrance by boat or horse drawn carriage, hold your ceremony at a historic chapel or choose a magical garden setting. Romantic moments are easily created among the vines in the Swan Valley.

City of Swan Mayor, Charlie Zannino, said the Valley has a venue to cater for any size, style or taste of ceremony and reception. "The Swan Valley is well known as the Valley of Taste and a wedding is the perfect time to indulge in the delights available," he said.

Spectacular river views and beautiful rural landscapes just 25 minutes from the Perth CBD make the Swan Valley the ideal place to get married. Choose from intimate wineries, warm inviting restaurants and stunning function centres where you can dish up delectable food accompanied by award-winning local wine and beer.
"Venues will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, July 8, so why not get a group of the girls (or boys) together and come and experience what the Swan Valley has to offer." Said Charlie Zannino. All of the venues will have staff on hand to provide specific information relating to the venue and menus as well as other service providers such as transport, cakes, decorators, celebrants and more.

By coming along to the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day you can go into the draw to win a $3,000 travel voucher to spend on your Honeymoon at Escape Travel.

Mayor Zannino said the Valley was so popular it also attracted some high profile weddings. "Megan and Andy from My Kitchen Rules (MKR) chose the Swan Valley as the location for their wedding earlier this year," he said. "The Valley is beautiful all year round, come out and see what's available for yourself."

Classic Elegance

Azadeh & Malek Vahdat • 9th October, 2011

Azadeh and Malek first met at a Sunday class that they attended with a few other youngsters when they were about 13 years old. Their families were friendly with each other, and Malek was known as the kid living ‘far away’ in Serpentine, while Azadeh was the girl living ‘far away’ in Joondalup.

After they stopped going to the Sunday class, Azadeh and Malek didn’t see much of each other. Malek went travelling around the world with his family, and Azadeh was busy with school. It wasn’t until they were both in their late teens, and Malek had returned from a service trip to Tajikistan where he had volunteered his time at a junior youth camp, that the pair started dating. Azadeh and Malek are Baha’i’s, which means that a couple’s official engagement begins with not only a proposal, but also the couple’s parents’ consent to the marriage.

Azadeh and Malek knew with all their hearts that they wanted to marry, so it was then a matter of asking their parents. When both sets of parents got together and agreed to the marriage, it was a good enough reason for a celebration.

On their wedding day, an excited Azadeh got out of bed after a night of no sleep at all. Looking out of the window, she was horrified to see a sky laden with storm clouds. Fortunately, the weather cleared shortly after, and the rain gave way to sunshine in time for their outdoor ceremony.

It took the help of both Azadeh and Malek’s mothers to get Azadeh into her Donna Tobin wedding gown, with its long lace sleeves and a full hoop dutchess silk skirt. Azadeh’s bridesmaids, her two sisters, wore silvery lilac gowns during the day, before changing into stunning ivory dresses for the evening reception.

The couple opted for a very private and very beautiful Baha’i ceremony at Malek’s family home, which concluded with food, music, wedding cake and plenty of photos. Then it was off to the reception, which started with a dramatic entrance from Azadeh and Malek, as they walked onto the venue’s white dance floor to begin their first dance to Coldplay’s Paradise.

Azadeh then sang Malek a song, which he and his brother followed with a hilarious dance routine. The night ended with Persian and contemporary dancing before the couple exited through a farewell tunnel of guests.

Denise Teo Photography

One of our favourite images from the very talented Denise Teo is this stunning shot…

“Bianca chose truly spectacular 1950s style tulle bridesmaids’ gowns. They were incredibly glamorous, romantic, and timeless in their appeal. And then there was the colour palette! With traditional architecture forming the backdrop for this image and being lucky enough for the wind to drop to enable the reflections in the pond to settle, I was able to capture my interpretation of Bianca’s vision. This is my favourite image as it reflects my love of colour and light, my use of space and my ability to create effortless looking images.” – Denise Teo, Denise Teo Photography
